Robot STEM Kit for Children

Children love STEM projects. Whenever I do a STEM activity in my classroom, my students love it! STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. STEM is a great way for children to fall in love with science and learning.

In the classroom, STEM can look like many different things, but I love to incorporate engineering, building, and designing whenever I can. Here is a list of STEM activities I have done in my classroom using paper and simple materials.

Another way to do STEM projects is to use a STEM kit. STEM kits usually come with everything you need to create a fun project. This is great for teachers and parents! The prep is completely taken out and you have a fun activity ready to go!

One of my favorite STEM kits is this kit from Giggleway. This is the Electric Motor Robotic Science Kit. Included in the kit is three different robots for your child to build. Once the robot is built, children can play with the robot in different ways. All robots are motorized and teach children about electric circuits. Mostly everything you need, including the screwdriver, is included in the kit. This kit is for ages 8 and up, but it is definitely a little challenging so it is best for older children.

Included in the Kit

Mostly everything you need is included in the kit. The kit comes with three robots and all pieces needed for each robot is in a separate bag. There is one magnetic screwdriver included in the kit, which is really great when putting these together.

Batteries are not included in this kit. You will need a total of 5 AA batteries for all the robots to work. Also needed are scissors.

The kit also comes with a great step by step booklet. This booklet has simple instructions and color pictures to guide children in making each robot!

The instruction booklet is easy to read and follow along with and all parts are in a bag for each robot!

Building the Robots

The kit has great instructions that children can easily follow. The screws included to build the robots are very small. The magnetic screwdriver is very helpful, but it is still a challenge when trying to screw each screw in. I recommend being near your child when building the robots so you can help out if needed.

Overall, the robots are pretty easy to build, but I could see younger children getting frustrated. I can make the robots in about 30 minutes each, but I would add some more time for children.

Robots

The three robots included in the kit can be played with after building them. The Doodling Robot is fun to create artwork. It comes with markers to draw on paper, which is really fun to watch.

The other two robots, the Reptile Robot and the Balance Car Robot, both move forward. These are fun to let it go across the floor and watch how fast it can go.

If you want to get this kit, check out the link below! This kit is great for an individual child, siblings to build together, or even a small group of students in a classroom. Since there is only one screwdriver, keep in mind you can only build one robot at a time or share the screwdriver if needed!

I hope you enjoyed learning about this fun toy to encourage STEM projects with your child or students.
