Funding Options for Professional Learning
Schools may use different funding pathways to support professional learning, including district professional development funds, school improvement funds, Title II, Title IV, and private school equitable services where applicable.
Continually Learning Academy is designed to help schools clarify needs, compare professional learning options, and prepare for funding or planning conversations.
Common Funding Pathways
Professional learning may be supported through several funding pathways depending on the school, district, program goals, and local approval process.
District Professional Development Funds
Schools and districts may use local professional development budgets to support targeted learning for teachers, leaders, or teams.
School Improvement Funds
Professional learning may align with school improvement goals connected to instruction, engagement, assessment, leadership, or student support.
Title II, Part A
Title II may support professional learning focused on strengthening teacher, principal, and school leader effectiveness.
Title IV, Part A
Title IV may support work connected to well-rounded education, safe and supportive learning conditions, technology, and digital learning.
Private School Equitable Services
Eligible private schools may discuss professional learning needs through consultation with the local education agency.

Schools can use the Professional Learning Planner to identify needs, clarify priorities, and prepare for funding conversations.
A Note for Private Schools
Private schools may be able to participate in professional learning supported through equitable services when allowable, reasonable, necessary, and approved through the local consultation process.
Private schools do not receive federal funds directly. Services are generally planned through consultation with the local education agency, and the local education agency remains responsible for approval, purchasing, and compliance.
The Professional Learning Planner can help private school leaders clarify needs, identify possible professional learning options, and prepare for conversations with the local education agency.
